Today's readings show us Peter, watching as a sheet descends before his eyes in order to instruct him to accept something that is very clearly denounced in scripture.
Christians today are faced with the same dilemma. God reveals his will through the faces and voices of gay brothers and sisters who come before these faithful souls, claiming that they, too can be followers of Christ. And the devout must make a choice; to believe Jesus's outlandish proclamation that all who believe in him will have everlasting life, or to deny him by clinging to the scriptures which contradict his words.
Peter believed what he saw despite his knowledge of the scriptures, because he knew who Jesus was.
We are called to do the same thing.
